Oceanography Vocabulary List for Quiz #1
Print out the list of words below and look up the words in your textbook
- use a dictionary and the internet where necessary.
You must look these words up before the class presentation on that topic.....so that you will be familiar with the vocabulary and be able to understand more of the oceanic concepts discussed in class. If you do not get familiar with the vocabulary before class, then you will be frustrated as you frantically try to scribble all the words and concepts down during class presentations...!
When you think that you know the words well enough, take Oceanography Vocabulary Quiz 1 an unlimited number of times....but your last score will count. Again, you may take this quiz an unlimited number of times (before the deadline in the semester calendar); however, your last score counts!

Because computers and internet connections can always have unexpected problems, you will get unlimited attempts for each quiz - and the highest score counts. If you can not access or run the quizzes from home, try the on-campus computer lab in Building 800. You may also come to the professor's office hours for help if you do not understand how to login to Blackboard.
If you have computer problems, and if you have waited until the day before a quiz is due (or the day that a quiz is due), you will not have any time to ask the professor for help and you will be stuck with a zero score for that quiz. Always leave yourself plenty of time to be able to come to the professor's office hours for help BEFORE the quiz is due!
I also recommend that you run these Vocabulary quizzes from a computer with a high-speed broadband connection....if you have a dial-up connection at home, you may have much more success running these quizzes at school (the school provides high-speed, non-dial-up internet access for students who purchase the Computer Access Card)
