Lower Division Courses are the required courses for the first 2 years of a 4-year degree .

An A.A. degree in Geology is the Lower Division Courses for the 4-year B.A. degree.
An A.S. degree in Geology is the Lower Division Courses for the 4-year B.S. degree.

The information below is provided for students who are considering exploring Geology and related Geoscience majors. There are a wide spectrum of colleges that offer Geology and related Geoscience degrees -- and each school has slightly different requirements for graduation. Each prospective Geoscience student must search for the school that offers the Geoscience program that is appropriate. The requirements listed below are just a sample of some of the requirements for lower division courses at a few different 4-year colleges.

Because the requirements at each school may change from year to year.....each student MUST check the CURRENT college catalogue for each 4-year university or college that the student is considering attending.

Hayward has an interesting option:
2 Chem classes and only 1 Phys class OR
1 Chem class and 2 Phys classes
perhaps only PreCalc at some schools -- but then there may be a Biology requirement instead
