Women's Cyber Talent Search Offers Scholarships For Intensive Hands On Training
The National Center for Women in Technology and SANS are providing more than $300,000 in scholarships for advanced hands-on training in the most sought-after skills. Want to Play? You have played plenty of games. Now it is time to create your own! Design, develop and test small 2D and 3D computer games using game development software tools such as Scratch, Alice, or similar programming development programs. This first programming course will provide the student with an understanding of the principles of game design, genre-specific design issues, storytelling, image manipulation, and development teams. Programming experience is not required to get started. Although this course has a programming focus, other topics briefly covered will include the history of computer/video game technology, game genres and design principles, and the social impact of games.

Requirements for the LPC Honors Transfer Program:
For continuing students: At least 12 units completed at LPC with a 3.5 or higher GPA, and eligibility for English 1A. For new students entering from high school: A 3.75 cumulative GPA and a copy of your high-school transcript. Any transferable course may become an honors course if you complete a substantial project in addition to the regular coursework. You will work one-on-one with a faculty member to design the project; both full and part-time faculty are eligible to mentor honors students
By participating in a Transfer Admission Guarantee [TAG] or Transfer Admissions Agreement [TAA] program, you will receive early review of your academic records, early admission notification and specific guidance about major preparation and general education coursework.UCSD will not offer any TAG agreements after fall 2014. So fall of 2013 is the last time we can write a TAG to this campus. They will no longer be a TAG school but students will still be able to apply through the regular process, Nov.1 - Nov 30th. The GPA needed to write a TAG for UCSD is 3.5. If a student has the 3.5 GPA, the best possible way to get in is to write a TAG in fall 2013.

Book prices getting you down? Tax Credit for Books. New government program will now reimburse students for up to 100% of the cost of required textbooks and other course materials. For example, if you had out-of-pocket course material expenses or tuition and fees during 2009 or 2010 and no other financial grant aid covers those expenses, you would be able to claim the expenses as a credit. For each student the credit is limited to $2,500.

International Students (those with ‘F1’ VISAs) do not qualify for scholarships which require FINANCIAL NEED (F1 assumes that foreign students are financially independent). However, they may apply for non-government scholarships. Concurrently enrolled high school students do not qualify for the LPC Scholarship Program.
LPC THEATER SCHEDULE All performances are in the Las Positas College Theater and are $10 general admission and $7 for students and seniors unless otherwise noted. Your admission fees help your theater classmates. If you can't attend yourself, use the tickets as gift certificates.
