The LPC
Learning Resource Center, or library, is an excellent resource
for your online research activities. Some of the more popular
links from the library site are listed below. Note:
You can obtain off-campus login information to these databases
from your instructor.
- EBSCOhost: indexes and summarizes 2,700 periodicals, and
includes the full-text for 1,800 of them, providing easy access
to articles from hundreds of magazines, journals and other sources.
Subjects covered include business, health, multicultural issues,
science, and general topics.
- SIRS Researcher: provides thousands of full-text articles on social,
scientific, health, historic, business, economic, political,
and global issues. Articles are carefully selected from approximately
1,500 newspapers, magazines, journals, and government publications.
Graphics, including charts, maps, diagrams and drawings, are
available for many of the articles.
- CountryWatch: A political, economic, and business information
country database.
- NewsBank: Full-text articles from Christian Science Monitor,
Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Washington Post.
- RAND California: Comprehensive California statistics and reports.
- Brittanica.com: Free public access to the Encyclopædia
Britannica.

Citation examples listed will assist you in citing sources for
your research.
- Searching on the Internet:
This interactive lesson is intended to teach you the basics of
Internet searching. During the lesson, not only will you learn
general information about various ways of searching, but you
will also learn about searching techniques and evaluating resources.
In addition, this lesson will simulate searches to give you a
feel for how they work. To complete this lesson, you will need
Netscape Navigator 4.06 or later or Microsoft Internet Explorer
4.01 Service Patch 1 or later.
